The city of Paris is still as popular as ever with tourists, the proof being that three of its museums are among the most visited in the world! At the beginning of the year, the director of Paris Museums even indicated that the year 2022 had been a record year in terms of attendance, with 4.5 million visitors! A great performance, after the difficult years due to the global pandemic. According to The Art Newspaper's ranking, the Louvre is even the most popular museum for travelers! And two other Parisian cultural places are close behind: the Musée d'Orsay and the Centre Pompidou!
In this Top 10, it's no surprise to find the Louvre at the top, particularly appreciated for its exceptional works, such as the Mona Lisa. In 2022, there will be 7.8 million visitors, no less! The Vatican Museums, the British Museum, the Tate Modern and the Korean National Museum in Seoul complete the top 5. In sixth place, our second most visited museum: Orsay and itscollection of impressionist paintings, with 3.27 million visitors.
Washington, New York and St. Petersburg also stand out and the Centre Pompidou reaches the 9th place of the ranking. This impressive building, which houses the most important collection of modern art in Europe, is enjoying its last years of opening before undergoing renovation work in 2025, which will last 5 years.
