Following the knife attack at a high school in Arras on Friday, October 13, France was placed under the Vigipirate plan "Urgence attentat". The following day, two bomb threats forced the biggest tourist sites in the Île-de-France region to close their doors: the Louvre Museum and the Château de Versailles were the target of these threats.
This Tuesday, October 17, 2023, just a few days after these alerts, the Château de Versailles was once again forced to evacuate the monument and close its doors to the public. In the middle of the day, a new bomb threat was announced, according to police information released to France Info and BFMTV. A bomb disposal team is on its way, according to BFMTV.
On social networks, the Sun King's palace indicated that, for security reasons, the monument would not be open to visitors for the rest of the day.

With the implementation of the Urgence attentat plan, and since this Monday, October 16, 2023, nearly 7,000 Sentinelle force soldiers have been deployed throughout France. Security has been particularly tight at tourist sites, schools, places of worship and public services (health centers, political offices, administrations).
