Work continues on the Paris metro. After major closures during the summer and All Saints' vacations, traffic on line 14 is once again completely interrupted for 15 consecutive days. This time, users will have to find alternative routes during these 2024 winter vacations. We tell you all about it.

Work on line 14 continues unabated. After a lengthy closure of the purple line of the Paris metro last summer, followed by a total closure for 15 consecutive days during the All Saints' vacation and other weekends in November, traffic is once again completely interrupted during these 2024 winter vacations.

On its website, RATP states that line 14, which runs from Olympiades to Mairie de Saint-Ouen, will be completely closed all day from Sunday February 11 to Sunday February 25, 2024, for 15 consecutive days and in the middle of the school vacation period for zone C.

"As part of the extension of line 14 to Aéroport d'Orly and Saint-Denis Pleyel, the automatic train control system is to be modernized on the existing line and deployed on the extended line in order to accommodate 1 million passengers a day in 2024. The first train tests began in January 2023 and will continue until the extension is brought into service ", explains RATP to justify this new total closure on line 14.

During this traffic disruption, users of line 14 will once again have to adapt and find alternative routes. To reach the center of Paris from the Olympiades stop, for example, the Régie recommends walking to the Nationale metro station, then taking line 6 to Nation, and finally boarding the RER A to Auber-Opéra. RATP also warns that"during this period, line 13 may experience increased ridership, despite a reinforced transport offer".

In addition, line 14 will be closed every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening from 10 p.m. until June 27, 2024 inclusive. The line will also be closed all day on Monday April 1, as well as during the spring vacations and in May.
