Throughout the year, users of public transport in Paris and the Ile-de-France region have to adapt to numerous modernization projects. This winter, no fewer than 5 lines are affected by this work: lines 4, 5, 6, 11 and 14. And the list is getting even longer, with RATP announcing the partial closure of line 8 during the February vacations, in order to renovate three switches.
In detail, traffic on this famous purple metro line, which links Balard to Créteil Point du Lac, will be interrupted between La Motte-Picquet - Grenelle and Balard stations from Friday February 16 to Thursday February 22, 2024 inclusive, i.e. for 7 consecutive days.
During this week of partial closure, Balard, Lourmel, Boucicaut, Félix Faure and Commerce stations will be completely closed, while La Motte-Picquet - Grenelle station will become the temporary terminus for passengers arriving from Créteil. " All connecting lines remain open ", explains the Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens, adding that "the rest of line 8 will operate normally on the days concerned ".
To help passengers with their journeys, RATP has announced that a replacement bus will be available throughout the work. " It will run at the metro's usual times, every 3 to 10 minutes, depending on the time of day. Pedestrian guidance from the closed metro station to the replacement bus stop is planned, either towards Balard or towards La Motte-Picquet - Grenelle ", says RATP. Alternatively, you can take line 12, line 10 or RER C.
