Line 14 users thought they were rid of the problem, but it's not to be. Extended to the north and then to the south since June 24, line 14 will once again be disrupted by construction work. In a press release published on November 26, RATP announced that the modernization work would continue until 2025.
" Line 14 has passed a major milestone with the opening of the extension to Saint-Denis - Pleyel and Aéroport d'Orly," says the Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens, adding that this work should enable " additional functionalities of the new system to be tested in real-life conditions to make it even more efficient ".
As a result, " the complete modernization of line 14 and its control system still requires work and testing ". Since these tests must be carried out " outside passenger traffic ", RATP has no choice but to close line 14 entirely for several evenings and on certain Sundays and public holidays, " until 2025 ", it adds.
So what's the timetable for these upcoming closures? When will line 14 be inaccessible again? From January 6, 2025, line 14 will once again be closed from 10pm, Monday to Wednesday. However, RATP has announced two changes compared with 2024. Specifically, line 14 will be partially closed between Saint-Denis Pleyel and Olympiades on Monday and Tuesday evenings, then completely closed on Wednesday evenings.
Line 14 will also be completely closed on several weekends and public holidays: the weekend of January 25 and 26, Sunday February 9, Sunday March 16, the weekend of April 5 and 6, the weekend of May 30 and 31, and the weekend of June 15 and 29. Traffic will also be completely interrupted on line 14 for 5 consecutive days next summer, from August 4 to 8 inclusive.
To help passengers with their journey, RATP points out that several alternative routes are available, starting with a replacement bus running between Gare de Lyon and Olympiades stations. Another possibility? Noctilien buses in service every night.
