Bad news for users of line 6. After two partial traffic disruptions this autumn, RATP is announcing further disruptions on this busy Paris metro line.
" In 2025, due to modernization work, work and closures are to be expected on metro line 6," warns the Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens on its website. So, what can we expect? Will there be partial or total disruptions? In the evening or during the day? We tell you all about it.
Work will resume on January 6, with line 6 completely closed from 10pm every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (except Wednesday, January 8, 2025), until February 12, 2025.
Traffic on metro line 6 will also be completely interrupted on Sundays, January 26 and June 15, 2025. On these two days, line 6 will be closed all day.
Several other disruptions have been announced by RATP. Line 6 will be partially closed on three occasions between February 17 and May 25 2025. In detail, train service will be interrupted from February 17 to 28 2025 inclusive, i.e. during the winter vacations, between Charles de Gaulle-Étoile and La Motte Picquet-Grenelle stations. Then, on April 12, 13 and May 18 2025, line 6 will be closed between Daumesnil and Nation stations. Finally, RATP is announcing a partial closure of line 6, between Charles de Gaulle-Étoile and Trocadéro stations, on April 26, 27 and May 25, 2025.
This modernization work will enable the continued deployment of new-generation MP89 trains. " The adaptation of infrastructures to this new rolling stock and the modernization of installations will be completed by 2026, with the modification of rail signalling installations in the Nation and Charles de Gaulle-Étoile zones, and the on-line testing of the new train control system. These actions will contribute to improving passenger service ", explains RATP.
Due to this work, RATP recommends that passengers use alternative routes, such as RER A and line 8. Replacement buses will also be running between Charles de Gaulle-Étoile and La Motte Picquet-Grenelle, and between Nation and Daumesnil during these partial closures. Stay tuned for more information!
