This New Year's Eve 2023, the party's on, and many parties are promising you a night to remember in Paris, to celebrate New Year's Eve 2024 in style. Nevertheless, to ensure that your evening goes smoothly (and to avoid a fine because you didn't know), the Préfecture de Police de Paris has introduced a number of regulations, set out in order no. 2023-00380, amending the previous order, published on August 8, 2022.
The consumption of alcoholic beverages from the 3rd to 5th groups - including sweet wines, liqueur wines, wine-based aperitifs, rums, eaux de vie and other strong spirits - is prohibited on public property from 4 p.m. to 7 a.m. all year round, as is the sale of these same beverages, prohibited from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. in certain streets of Paris. Sunday December 31, 2023 is no exception, with even stricter rules: takeaway sales of alcoholic beverages (listed above, from the 3rd to 5th groups) are prohibited from 5pm to 9pm on New Year's Eve Sunday.
Only a few areas are exempt, and takeaway sales are authorized - even if consumption remains prohibited on the public highway - within certain defined perimeters: sectors 1 and 2 of the 9th arrondissement, sector 2 of the 10th arrondissement and sector 1 of the 12th arrondissement.
Wherever you live and wherever you plan to spend your New Year's Eve 2024, all the information is detailed by arrondissement, sector and main streets(pages 2 to 19 depending on the arrondissement) on theprefecture's decree, which you can consult online.
