The evening of Saturday July 6, 2024 at Pachamama Paris turned into a nightmare ... Nestled on rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine, this trendy club in the 11th arrondissement was the scene of a spectacular incident:a collapsing wall injured several partygoers, one of them seriously.
The preliminary investigation revealed a cause that was, to say the least, unexpected. A scooter battery, stored on the fourth floor of the building's offices, exploded shortly after the nightclub opened. The blast caved in a section of wall, sending plaster debris hurtling across the atrium to the first floor. According to Le Parisien, the owner of the club claims that it was this debris that caused the injuries to 3 of the 140 people present at the time of the tragedy.
One, seriously injured, was treated by the emergency services, while the other two were treated on the spot. According to La Dépêche, it was even the imposing chandelier that came down from the ceiling and hit the victims.
Authorities questioned the owner of the scooter, while investigations continued late into the night. After a temporary closure, the doors of Pachamama Paris are due to reopen next weekend, with workers already hard at work clearing away the rubble. An unforgettable evening, but for all the wrong reasons...
