Every December 12 in Mexico, the local saint, Our Lady of Guadalupe, is honored on a feast day with numerous festive masses held throughout the country. In Paris, expatriates from Mexico and other Latin American countries gather around this image of the Virgin to celebrate her with mariachi musicians, around hymns such as " Las Mañanitas " and " La Guadalupana ".
This year, two masses will be held in the capital to commemorate the apparition of the Virgin Mary to Saint Juan Diego Cuauhtlatoatzin in Mexico in 1531: one atSaint-Roch church, in the 1st arrondissement, and one at Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral, to mark its reopening week. And sincethe end of the Second World War, Guadalupe has had its own chapel in the monument, so all you have to do is find it on your next visit!
