This Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at a press conference in the heart of the Basilique Saint-Denis, the town's mayor, Mathieu Hanotin, presented in detail the project to rebuild the spire at the tip of the edifice. To embody the momentum of the project, Stéphane Bern agreed to get involved and lend his support, in particular to the major stone sponsorship drive organized by the Fondation du Patrimoine.
Stéphane Bern, who also chairs the sponsorship committee of the Suivez la Flèche association, which organizes events for the general public at the construction site, spoke of his well-known passion for heritage, and in particular for this basilica, the last home of the kings of France. "It has always held an extraordinary symbolic value for me", he added, before confirming his presence at the laying of the foundation stone in mid-March.
In 2024, a sponsorship campaign has been launched, with the possibility of sponsoring one of the 15,228 stones from the Oise region, which will then be used in the reconstruction, for as little as 15 euros. And Stéphane Bern intends to set an example of his own:"I'll lay stones, but I'll pay for them!
