This Friday, June 21, 2024, it's time to discover new artists and musical talents! To mark this year's Fête de la Musique, a host of events are being organized in Paris and elsewhere in the Île-de-France region. Among this year's not-to-be-missed highlights? A 20s bal musette at the Bibliothèque Forney, in the sublime Hôtel de Sens.

The Fête de la Musique was born in 1982. Under the impetus of Jack Lang, then Minister of Culture, Maurice Fleuret and Christian Dupavillon, architect-scenographer and member of the Cabinet, the very first Fête de la Musique was launched in France on June 21, 1982. Since then, the event has gone from strength to strength, and has even been exported abroad.

Once again this year, the Fête de la musique will get Parisians and Ile-de-France residents up and dancing with a rich and varied program. This is particularly true of the Bibliothèque Forney, nestled in the sublime Hôtel de Sens. This incredible library enjoys a majestic setting, a building constructed in the 15th century as the residence of the Archbishops of Sens. This place steeped in history is home to hundreds of thousands of books and documents, mainly on the decorative arts, fine arts and crafts.

Once again this year, the Forney library is taking part in the Fête de la musique, offering an original musical program to be discovered free of charge on Friday June 21, 2024 from 8pm.

  • Le P'tit Bal perdu - Bal musette des années 20
    Straight out of a Parisian tripot in the Bastille district, this neo-retro ball takes you back to the golden age of musette in Paris in the 1920s! The musicians string together javas, waltzes, tangos, pasos and swing, not forgetting songs by Frehel, Damia, Maurice Chevalier and Berthe Sylva, performed by singer Sacha la Fauve.
