Released in 2017, Boule & Bill 2 is a film adaptation of the famous comic strips created by Jean Roba. Directed by Pascal Bourdiaux(Fiston), the film follows the adventures of Boule, a mischievous young boy, and his faithful cocker spaniel Bill. Starring Charlie Langendries as Boule, and Franck Dubosc and Manu Payet as Bill's father and voice respectively, this comedy is for the whole family, offering an adventure full of gags and tenderness.
Boule's family leads a happy and peaceful existence. Bill is perfectly integrated into the family, Boule does well at school, his mom gives piano lessons at home and his father is a well-known draughtsman.
All hell breaks loose when Boule's father's work is rejected by his gruff, cantankerous comics editor. She sees it as a serious lack of inspiration, due to the fact that his family is very negative about his creativity. Boule's father returns home with the firm intention of awakening his family from this happiness by generating a lot of "nonsense".
Not only Boule and Bill, but also their mother, are about to derail the family's "happiness" to the point of explosion.
Boule & Bill 2 is aimed primarily at families and children aged 8 and over, but will also appeal to those nostalgic for the original comic strips. With its light-hearted tone and visual gags, the film is perfect for a family evening out. As with the first installment, the mix of humor and adventure is at the heart of this comedy, with endearing characters and funny situations. This film is reminiscent of classic children's films such as Les Vacances de Ducobu or Le Petit Nicolas, where mischief and misunderstandings follow one another in a good-natured spirit.
Boule & Bill 2 is a tender, funny family comedy that offers a moment of relaxation and laughter for young and old alike. With an engaging cast led by Franck Dubosc and the mischievous voice of Manu Payet, the film promises to delight lovers of light-hearted adventure and fans of the Boule & Bill universe.
