Our opinion on Bumblebee (2018):
Bumblebee is a pleasant, entertaining feature film that breaks the saga's codes, offering fewer explosions and more depth in its story and characters (quite the opposite of Michael Bay's films). The film also capitalizes on the franchise's nostalgia, with a powerful introduction that gets you right into the swing of things, before breaking away from the saga with a classic but effective story and complex characters with equally complex interactions.
On the casting side, John Cena and Hailee Steinfeld do the job without being transcendent either, and allow the film to lift up a franchise that was declining with each film release. In short, an ideal film for family entertainment over the Christmas vacations.
