Luther, Diego, Viktor, Allison, Klaus and all the others are back in season 3 of Umbrella Academy, since June 22, 2022 on Netflix. A brand new season awaited by the fans which is finally revealed through a first trailer. What does this one show us? A lot of interesting things, and a lot of humor too.
We see what happens to our favorite superhero team just after the season 2 finale, after having traveled in time thanks to Number 5, just after the moment when they meet the Sparrow Academy, a kind of Umbrella Academy straight from an alternative world. A new reality to which the Hargreeves family will have to adapt, unless they try everything to go back to their previous life.
The cast includes Elliot Paige (X-Men, Juno...), Tom Hopper(Hitman & Bodyguard 2, Resident Evil: Welcome to Racoon City...), David Castañeda (Sicario, The Guilty...), Emmy Raver-Lampman (Jane the Virgin, Robot Chicken...), Robert Sheehan (Geostorm, Mortal Engines ...) or Aidan Gallagher (Modern Family ...), to which are added Justin Cornwell, Britne Oldford, Jake Epstein or Genesis Rodriguez.
Our review:
Umbrella Academy succeeds more or less in proposing an unchanged plot compared to the past seasons (a teleportation after an end of the world, then a new end of the world to be thwarted) while renewing its story somewhat, with subplots that smell of new blood and a path towards the end that still shakes the codes a little, even if a feeling of déjà vu hangs over the show again.
A new season that remains relatively refreshing, although offering the same clichés. We still appreciate the characters, with multiple facets and deeper for some. Nevertheless, the season could bore some fans, the plot being locked in a loop from which the writers seem to have difficulty to get out.
We hope that the next season will not fall into this trap, in which case the fans might get bored... permanently.
