After conquering the world with its theatrical release on August 31, 2022 and scooping 7 Oscars in 2023, Everything Everywhere All at Once finally arrives on Netflix on October 1, 2024. Directed by visionary duo Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan, this film transcends genres, blending action, comedy, drama and science fiction with a unique martial arts twist. Featuring an all-star cast including Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, Jamie Lee Curtis and Stephanie Hsu, this feature explores the concept of the multiverse in a spectacular and emotional way. Following its theatrical re-release on March 8, 2023, and its triumph at the 2023 Oscars, the film has become a must-see for all film buffs.
Evelyn Wang(Michelle Yeoh) is a middle-aged woman weighed down by the pressures of everyday life: her family she struggles to understand, her struggling laundry business, and mounting taxes. When she discovers the existence of multiple parallel universes - alternative versions of her own life - she is propelled into an unimaginable adventure where she explores all the lives she could have led. Between versions of herself as a martial arts master, in absurd or profound universes, Evelyn becomes the key to saving not only the multiverse, but also what's most precious to her: her family. In this flurry of action and poignant scenes, Everything Everywhere All at Once leads us to reflect on identity, choices and personal reconciliation.
Everything Everywhere All at Once is for those looking for an extraordinary cinematic experience. Fans of science fiction, martial arts or films with innovative concepts will be delighted. However, the film's unique blend of genres and decidedly offbeat look - with its often absurd worlds and unpredictable narrative transitions - could be unsettling for audiences less accustomed to this kind of experimentation. The film, though fascinating, is not a simple blockbuster: its originality and complex structure may disorientate some viewers. If you've enjoyed works like The Matrix or Inception, or even more offbeat films like The Big Lebowski, this film could become one of your favorites. But beware, Everything Everywhere All at Once plays with the audience's expectations, juggling humor, emotion and visual chaos in a mix that leaves no one indifferent.
With its 7 Oscars, including Best Picture, Everything Everywhere All at Once is undeniably a film that has marked its era. The arrival of this ambitious work on Netflix on October 1, 2024 is the perfect opportunity to discover or rediscover this unique adventure that explores the multiverse, family and the essence of humanity. A total cinematic experience, as entertaining as it is intellectually stimulating, brought to life by Michelle Yeoh at the top of her game. Get ready to travel through a myriad of universes, without ever losing sight of what's essential: the ties that bind us together.
Our opinion on the film Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022):
In this multiverse on the verge of collapse, humanity's hopes rest on Evelyn Wang, played by Michelle Yeoh, a Chinese-American woman who feels increasingly lost in her life, sunk in bills and family problems. With a script like this, the Daniels explore a theme that's all the rage at the moment, but with a fresh, unusual eye: no more cape-wearingsuperheroes lifting buildings. Evelyn is a simple laundress, overwhelmed by her daily routine and embroiled in a story much bigger than herself.
On the face of it, she doesn't have the résumé to be a superhero... And so much the better! This character, magnificently embodied by Michelle Yeoh, is human, flawed, fearful, clumsy, selfish, stubborn... In short, he's just like us. We follow Evelyn's evolution with great pleasure and interest, identifying with her fears, her doubts, her victories; not forgetting the secondary characters, who also have their own story and development.
This film already promises to be a cinematic classic. It brilliantly explores the concept of the multiverse, and finally gives us something to dream about, think about and invent: if you had made a different choice in your past, no matter how insignificant, what would your life be like today? The Daniels play with these different realities with great humor.
Yet the stakes of this story are not mocked. Although the identity of the story's great villain is quickly guessed, the film's antagonist is a complex character, sometimes endearing, and above all very menacing.
Everything Everywhere All at Once is a spectacular piece of entertainment, delicately tackling universal subjects such as identity, acceptance of others and oneself, growing up and growing old, the search for happiness...
A wonderful film that Sortiraparis was unanimous in its praise for. We can't recommend it enough!
