As in 2022 and 2023, a French actress will be in charge of presenting the opening and closing ceremonies at the Cannes Film Festival 2024. After Virginie Efira and Chiara Mastroianni, Thierry Frémaux and Iris Knobloch have chosen Camille Cottin as Mistress of Ceremonies for the 77th edition.
Camille Cottin first came to public attention with her role as a star agent in the series Dix pour Cent - and before that, in the Canal+ series Connasse - and has gone on to star in numerous French films (most recently Bruno Dumont's L'Empire ), but the French actress has also taken a highly successful international turn, taking on a string of roles under the aegis of leading English-speaking filmmakers.
She has worked in front of the cameras of Ridley Scott(House of Gucci, alongside Lady Gaga and Adam Driver), Kenneth Branagh (Mystery in Venice) and Tom McCarthy(Stillwater, with Matt Damon). A judicious choice on the part of the Cannes Festival to call on an actress who speaks to both French and international audiences.
The actress will present the jury (whose members are not yet known), which will elect the winner of the 2024 Palme d'Or. The 77th Cannes Film Festival will be held from May 14 to 25, 2024. This Thursday, April 11, at the traditional and eagerly awaited press conference, the Official Selection was revealed, for the most part.
