For his first feature film as director, Rudy Milstein has surrounded himself with the right people! Je ne suis pas un Héros, starring Vincent Dedienne, Géraldine Nakache, Clémence Poésy and Isabelle Nanty, is due in cinemas on November 22.
Better known for his work as an actor, Rudy Milstein is taking his first steps as a filmmaker, after his first short film. Je ne suis pas un héros will be an opportunity for him to prove himself as a director. And from the looks of the first trailer, it's a promising project!
Louis is this super-nice guy. And in his law office, that's no compliment. The day his doctor mistakenly diagnoses him with a serious illness, the way people look at him changes: people pay attention to him, ask him questions and listen to his answers - Louis finally exists! So, of course, he's reluctant to say he's doing just fine.
Our verdict
Vincent Dedienne's hero is full of good will, but invisible to his colleagues. All the more so as he's well surrounded! Clémence Poesy and Géraldine Nakache are formidable in their respective roles, and all three carry the film. Yes, this story of misunderstanding and spiraling lies is funny enough, but it never quite shakes things up enough to seduce. Je ne suis pas un Héros is a pretty Sunday-night movie, aimed at the whole family and harmless enough to appeal to the widest possible audience.
In fact, Je ne suis pas un Héros will appeal to lovers of good comedies, and to fans of the actors in the cast, but probably not much more.
