The colossal work, Napoléon vu par Abel Gance, is set to light up La Seine Musicale on July 4 and 5, offering an extraordinary cinematic experience. This epic, the fruit of 16 years' labor, will be presented in a never-before-seen, complete 7-hour version, divided into two parts. This historic event marks the world premiere of a complete version of the film, accompanied live by the Radio France ensembles, who will perform a score specially created for the occasion, enriched with emblematic classical pieces.
Released in 1927, this monument of the 7th art is distinguished by its legendary final triptych, making it the most memorable film about Napoleon Bonaparte in a century. The giant screen projection will be enhanced by the accompaniment of over 250 musicians, revisiting 300 years of symphonic music. Major works such as Beethoven 's Symphonie héroïque and Berlioz 's Marseillaise will thrill the audience. The Orchestre National de France, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and the Chœur de Radio France, under the direction of Frank Strobel, promise an exceptional symphonic ciné-concert.
The Cinémathèque française, with the support of the CNC, has worked to restore this masterpiece, long altered by re-editing and cutting, so as to present the public with its original and complete version, a first since its release. This fresco, covering Bonaparte 's youth through to the Italian campaign, is designed to offer an immersive experience, true toAbel Gance 's vision: transforming the spectator into an actor, immersing him or her in the rhythm and emotion of the images.
This ciné-concert at La Seine Musicale doesn't just pay tribute to a pillar of cinema; it reinvents the way we live and feel cinema, in perfect harmony with Gance's visionary ambitions. A unique opportunity to explore history from a new angle, at the heart of one of France's greatest theaters.
