Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral hasfascinated crowds since its construction, and inspired many artists, including the great French writer Victor Hugo. In 1923, a silent film directed by Wallace Worsley, a Hollywood adaptation based on the novel"Notre-Dame de Paris", was released to great acclaim. Considered a masterpiece, it required the reconstruction of the cathedral's forecourt and façade as sets at Universal Studios. To coincide with the cathedral exhibition at the Louvre, a film concert will pay tribute to the film on January 14, 2024.
In the wake of the cathedral's fire, which moved the whole world, numerous exhibitions retrace the history of the monument or present its remains to the general public. The exhibition at the Musée du Louvre, which runs until January 29, 2024, is a good opportunity to honor this silent film, projected in the Auditorium and accompanied by an exceptional organ performance by Jean-Baptiste Monnot.
Jean-Baptiste Monnot, owner of the great Aristide Cavaillé-Coll organ and designer of thetransportable and modular Orgue du Voyage, will improvise a spectacular performance lasting almost two hours.
