Who hasn't heard of Starmania? Considered one of France's most iconic musicals, Starmania was created in 1979. That year, the rock opera created by the magical collaboration between Michel Berger and Luc Plamondon was performed for the first time on April 10 at the Palais des Congrès in Paris. At the time, Starmania starred Daniel Balavoine as Johnny Rockfort, Diane Dufresne as Stella Spotlight, France Gall as Cristal and Fabienne Thibeault as Marie-Jeanne.
45 years on, Starmania remains a huge success. In fact, the musical has been performed regularly in several versions since its inception. The rock opera is packed with timeless songs such as " Le monde est Stone ", " Ziggy ", " Quand on arrive en ville ", " Le Blues du businessman ", " Un garçon pas comme les autres " and " SOS d'un terrien en détresse ".
To mark its 45th anniversary, an anniversary concert was held at the Agora in the port of Quebec, Canada. A recorded musical event that France 2 is broadcasting this Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 9:05pm.
