A famous venue in Paris's 18th arrondissement, the Trianon has played host to major national and international artists since its inauguration in 1894. Here's a look back at the history of this entertainment mecca, nestled at the foot of the Butte Montmartre.

Le Trianon is an iconic concert hall in the 18th arrondissement of Paris. Since its inauguration at the end of the 19th century, this cultural venue has witnessed many memorable moments in the history of Parisian entertainment. Over the years, the Trianon has become a must-see spot for lovers of music and shows of all kinds.

For the record, it was in 1894 that the Trianon was inaugurated under the name of " Trianon-Concert ". Artists such as Mistinguett, La Goulue and Valentin le désossé soon took to the stage. But in 1900, a fire destroyed the auditorium. Architect Joseph Cassien-Bernard was commissioned to rebuild it. The theatre was inaugurated at the end of 1902 under the name of " Trianon-Théâtre ". Over the following years, however, the venue regularly changed name: " Théâtre Victor-Hugo " (1903), " Trianon-Lyrique " and finally " Trianon ".

In 1936, the Trianon was taken over by the world of music-hall, with performances by Yvette Guilbert, Marie Dubas, Fréhel and Pierre Dac. Shortly before the Second World War, the Trianon was transformed into a cinema.

Finally, the Trianon was listed as a historic monument in 1988, then fully restored in 2009 and opened to the public again in 2010. Since then, the Trianon has hosted a steady stream of concerts and shows, from French variety to rock and metal, and electro. Several international stars have also taken to the stage, including Rihanna. The Barbadian singer invaded the Trianon in November 2012 for her"777 Tour".

So, how do you get to the Trianon by public transport? There are several options. The venue is ideally located near Anvers metro station (line 2) and Pigalle station (line 2 and line 12). Bus station 30 also serves the surrounding area.
