Singer Angèle, rock band Phoenix and electro ace Kavinsky closed the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in style with their live remix of the Nightcall sound. The release of the single, originally by Kavinsky, was eagerly awaited by fans around the world. And now, as of Friday September 20, Nightcall version JO is available on all platforms!
The Paris 2024 Olympic Games featured athletes from all over the world, but also many French and American artists, with the next Games taking place in Los Angeles in 2028. At the closing ceremony of the Games at the Stade de France, the whole world witnessed the performance of dj Kavinsky and the band Phoenix, soon joined by Belgian singer, Angèle for a new version of an already well-known song: Nightcall.
The Nightcall sound was co-created by French producer Kavinsky and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo of Daft Punk. An electro-pop song, it became famous after being used in the soundtrack to the film Drive starring Ryan Gosling. The music plunges us into a retro, nocturnal atmosphere, where Angèle's sweet voice and Phoenix 's rhythm were added during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Olympics. Do you only have the original version in mind? Go and listen to this new version on any platform, available now!
Angèle may be a Belgian artist, not a French one, but she is nonetheless hugely popular with the French. The singer-songwriter is known for her soft-spoken pop songs, which combine humor, feminism and social criticism. Meanwhile, Phœnix, a French rock band that blends pop and electro, is now world-famous. Their album Wolfgang Amadeus Phœnix (2009) propelled them to fame with tracks like 1901.
Kavinsky, meanwhile, is a French electronic music producer, famous for his retro-futuristic sounds, including Nightcall, which they covered during the Paris 2024 Olympics. An exceptional trio that has worked wonders, to the point of releasing the new version of Nightcall today on all platforms.
