With a solid international reputation, Phoenix and Air recently brought the house down in the Paris region. On July 17, the two groups took to the roof of Terminal 1 at Charles-de-Gaulle airport for an unusual free concert open only to a lucky few.
For the uninitiated and the young at heart, Air is made up of Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel. Formed in 1995, Air released their first album,"Moon Safari", in 1998. It includes the hit"Sexy Boy". Air later released several other albums, including"10,000 Hz Legend" and"Love 2", not to mention the soundtrack to Sofia Coppola's film"Virgin Suicides". Recently, Air celebrated the 25th anniversary of"Moon Safari" at the Olympia and then at the Philharmonie de Paris as part of the Days Off Festival.
For their part, Phoenix made their mark in the early 2000s with opuses such as"United","Alphabetical","It's Never Been Like That" and"Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix", for which they won the Grammy Award for Best Independent Album of the Year.
Composed of Thomas Mars, Deck d'Arcy, Laurent Brancowitz and Christian Mazzalai, Phoenix is undeniably one of France's most internationally popular bands. A musical choice that should appeal to viewers the world over.
