Mamma Mia 3 is on its way! Six years after the success of the last opus, the interpreter of Donna has revealed that the producer is already working on the long-awaited third film. We can't wait!
Get out your bell-bottoms! Six years after the resounding success of
"Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again", a
third installment is said to be on the way. Christine Baranski, aka Donna's friend Tanya in the films, revealed the news in an interview with
The Hollywood Reporter. Indeed, producer Judy Craymer, who produced the first two films, is currently in London
working on the long-awaited
sequel. "She's told me the whole plot," the actress confided, while remaining mysterious about the details. Judy Craymer seems determined to bring the whole cast together once again for a spectacular comeback.
This news is sure to please die-hard fans. In 2008, the original
film/musical, which unveiled the fused relationship between Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) and her mother Donna (Meryl Streep), was a box-office success worldwide, and the sequel, released ten years later, was also a box-office hit.
As for whether this third opus will include previously unreleased songs by the legendary Swedish band ABBA, there's reason to hope. Back in 2020, Craymer expressed his desire to incorporate new musical nuggets into the film, although the pandemic put the brakes on the project's development.
With the enthusiasm of
Meryl Streep herself , who last May told
Deadline that she was ready to reprise her role, it would seem that nothing can stop the
Mamma Mia machine. Universal, for its part, is also keen to make the trilogy a reality.
Get ready to sing and dance, because the Mamma Mia phenomenon is about to make its big screen comeback!
