" Every You Every Me ", " This Picture ", " The Bitter End ", " Special Needs ", " Pure Morning ", " Song to Say Goodbye ", " Special K ", " Meds ".... If you know all these songs, then you probably grew up with Placebo. As one of the leading bands of the 90s and 2000s, Placebo has undeniably left its mark on the history of the rock scene. The band's reputation is not just due to its worldwide hits, but also to its frontman, Brian Molko, who has a nasally voice and an androgynous look.
This autumn, Placebo is honored with a one-off screening of a documentary (1h32). Entitled"Placebo: This Search For Meaning", this never-before-seen film is by Oscar Sansom. Heralded as an intimate documentary,"This Search For Meaning" looks back at the career of this great alternative rock band, from its subversive beginnings to the present day, touching on surveillance culture, sexuality, addiction, trauma and environmental issues.
For the occasion, fans can look forward to never-before-seen interviews with historic band members Brian Molko and Stefan Olsdal. But"This Search For Meaning" will also feature studio performances around the"Never Let Me Go" opus, as well as rare archive footage, including that of their collaboration with the great David Bowie.
Several other artists from the rock scene take part in this documentary, including Shirley Manson from Garbage, Joe Talbot from IDLES and Robbie Williams and Yungblud.
In Paris and elsewhere in the Île-de-France region, several screenings have been announced, including at the Grand Rex, Pathé Quai d'Ivry, Pathé Boulogne, Pathé Levallois-Perret and Pathé Massy.
Placebo: This Search For Meaning will be released in France on November 28, 2024 at 8pm.
