We're going to make a confession: we really like Charlotte De Turckheim. Because she's got heart, because she films her actresses well, because she always looks at her characters with kindness, because she's funny, because she's whimsical, because....
Qui c'est les plus forts? has once again seduced us. Obviously, it's not a masterpiece, but it's a nugget of happiness, a big smile thrown at the crisis, like a weapon, like a flower. Charlotte de Turckheim has the art of placing herself in the midst of current events (the way in which the two young girls want to earn money, which we can't reveal to you!) while dealing with eternal subjects, such as family, trauma, friendship and so on.
There's plenty of emotion and good humor in this bubbly pink film, reminiscent of the strength of Mince alors! which tackled the dictatorship of thinness with candor and humor. We feel right at home with the characters in Qui c'est les plus forts? and even if the jokes don't fly very high (like when the demonstrators throw chickens at the chickens/police officers), we crack up, laugh and have a good laugh. And with the return of summer, lightness has its place in our dark rooms, doesn't it?
