When the world of indie games shows itself at its best... MIO: Memories in Orbit, a metroidvania-style video game, awaits you on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch for 2025. Developed by Douze Dixièmes in collaboration with Focus Entertainment, this game invites players to embody MIO, a robot who explores a vast abandoned spaceship, the Ark, now plunged into chaos.
"A sumptuous, labyrinthine and decadent world awaits you. No one knows why the Pearls, the Ark's AIs, have ceased to function. Now forgotten, the ship faces extinction. Dive deep into the bowels of this metallic giant to rekindle its lost memories, while unraveling its past and destiny. Can you save the Ark from extinction? Will you dare to awaken its memories?
The story of MIO: Memories in Orbit begins as the robot MIO awakens aboard the Ark, a ruined spaceship overrun by vegetation and deranged machinery. As he explores, MIO unlocks abilities and powers that enable him to reach new areas and unravel the ship's mysteries. The game's sophisticated art direction and varied gameplay will captivate players.
Our preview:
So, what does MIO: Memories in Orbit have to offer us? We were able to test part of it during a press preview at Paris Games Week 2024. Graphically, the game is very handsome, with a very simple "tutorial" section (the first part we tested) (very simple, with fine gold lines on a black background), and a "game" section, with a beautiful DA using drawing. A choice that hits the nail on the head!
The gameplay is just as interesting... The game's handling is fairly simple, with few keys to remember, but the gameplay makes it all particularly complex, making it a particularly enjoyable experience, rather like Prince of Persia. You'll lose a lot, and you'll have to save your progress whenever possible, but it's worth it! And the difficulty is well balanced to avoid frustration.
Douze Dixièmes and Focus Entertainment have made a fine promise! It's a game that should appeal to fans of both challenges and beautiful drawings. It's aimed at experienced gamers, but neophytes can still try it out: at least they'll get to see the drawings... We'll just have to wait for its release to see more!
The game will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch in 2025, with wishlists already open.
