North-American championship without flying or spending the night awake because of the late broadcast… The NBA has announced to hold two games of two of its regular seasons in the French capital, a bit like in London since 2011. It’s two basketball games that fan can follow live from the bleachers in December 2019 and December 2020 (dates are yet to be confirmed).
An announcement already made in January by NBA commissioner Adam Silver for a game (that became two) in Paris and confirmed by our colleagues from L’Equipe newspaper. Yet, as for the teams, we don’t know anything so far, but we could expect the Charlotte Hornets with Tony Parker and Nicolas Batum, among other, to make the link with France and the United States.
Moving on to the venue for these two games, we obviously think about the AccorHotels Arena, but nothing has been said yet.
The NBA is able to come to Paris thanks to Paris City Hall Deputy of Sports Jean-François Martins who met back in January in London Adam Silver’s right arm, Mark Tatum. For the record, it’s not the first time that the NBA is coming to Paris since a game between the Timberwolves from Minnesota and the Knicks from New York already took place in 2019 at the Palais des Sports de Paris-Bercy (current AccorHotels Arena). Let’s get our basket balls out, shall we?
