To treat you well, head to La Bonne Composition, the natural cosmetics studio-store that has recently opened near Pigalle in Paris 9th arrondissement. A place providing you with products good for your body and for the planet and also teaching you how to make your own cosmetics yourselves. So, meet now at La Bonne Composition for a flawless beauty shopping spree!
Behind La Bonne Composition, there is Emmanuelle Foret, a former accountant, who changed her career to start a new one. She has tested and selected for us eco-friendly brands thoroughly sorted out and 100% made in France such as Umai, Druydès. Some like Endro, Biotanie and even Ibbéo practice the deposit policy for jars. So, when you finished your product, you bring the jar back to La Bonne Composition. It will be then sent back to the manufacturer, cleaned up and re-used.
As soon as we met Emmanuel Foret, we were delighted by her passion for natural and ecofriendly beauty products. No guilty-feeling here, but we share recipes, tips, and a contagious need to use the right products.
Furthermore, out of the people who come to the store for the first time, a third comes back. A loyal clientele is already building itself, as La Bonne Composition only opened in May 2020, when lockdown was liftedn.
Soap, dry shampoo, this is time to move to eco-friendly cosmetics, and you are provided with a large choice. Thanks to the selection of La Bonne Composition, suddenly "consciously" showering is no longer a chore but a genuine beauty ritual.
Between asses' milk soaps (provided by La Savonnière du Moulin between €8 and 10 each), to feel like Cleopatra, numbered soaps by L'Esperluette for €6.80 with poetic names such as "L'Appel du Large" we love a lot, and Savons de Joya soaps for €5.90 like the one based on sweet almond and avocado, we are far from the average household soap.
Moving on to dry shampoos, it is the same. There are shampoos by Druydès for €10.90, as well as the very coveted ones by Umaï for €18. Note that Umaï also provides solid conditioner. Once again, you can enjoy Emmanuel Foret's expertise as she tried them all and can tell us about her experience.
In addition to the vegetable oils presented in a keg, there are perfumes and aromacology. These essences with therapeutic benefits by vegan slow comestic brand 100Bon are to be sprayed at home, around you for an immediate effect. We could not recommend enough the "Lâcher Prise" or the "Nouveau Souffle" specifically in these troubled times.
As we said, La Bonne Composition is not only a store. The place also provides you with different workshops (from 1 to 2 hours), to learn how to make your own cosmetics, suiting your needs and feels! An experience to enjoy on your own, with friends, your other half or even your family! Hand cream, body balm, deodorant, shampoo bar, or evenserum for your face are as many things you can learn to DIY at La Bonne Composition.
And there is a very trendy workshop, Maskne! Contraction of the words “mask” and “acne”, maskne is all these little spots and zits we have noticed lately on our faces as we wear facemasks for a while. This workshop teaches you to do a face scrub (30ml – 1.01oz_us), a lotion (100ml – 3.38oz_us) and a serum (30ml), the winning combo to keep a healthy skin, so that you can remove your mask shamelessly.
As for us, we tried the face cream workshop. Dressed in our lovely "La Bonne Composition" aprons, we are going to enjoy a class for two hours, but we sometimes feel like we are playing tea parties and mad scientist! It is playful, but also very informative. Emmanuel tells us how to do it, she provides us with the tools such as a rubber spatula, a scale, and a thermometer (it is all about being precise), and we create each of our recipes depending on our needs and skin types.
Vegetable oils, essential oils, hydrolats, we weight, dose out, smell, melt, whip our mixtures; And we end up with a unique cream, made by us and for us, totally natural, and of course, it smells deliciously good!
So, hurry and go to La Bonne Composition, the flawless comestic store!
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
