From March 5 to 10, 2024, Paris will host the European Wheelchair Fencing Championships at the legendary Halle Carpentier! Just five months away from the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, this benchmark competition will bring together 15 nations and over 100 fencers from across the continent, who will attempt to win the various European titles, as well as qualify for the Paralympic Games.

For six days, the French Handisport Federation is organizing the European Wheelchair Fencing Championships. The competition will bring together the best European fencers in each of the three weapons: epee, foil and sabre, in both individual and team events. Competing athletes will be pursuing a double major objective in their season, winning a continental title and qualifying for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games!

These European Championships will be an opportunity to discover or rediscover this iconic discipline, which has been on the Paralympic program since 1960. Wheelchair fencing is also set to be one of the sports to watch this summer at the Paris Games, as the Paralympic events are already fully booked! This sport requires great technical mastery, remarkable agility and great mental strength on the part of the athletes. Wheelchair fencing is suitable for most people with a physical disability in the lower limbs, and can be used with all three weapons (touches not permitted on the lower limbs).

At the Halle Georges Carpentier, duels between fencers will offer a captivating experience accessible to all ages, and a chance to meet the French team and the various international headliners. With a €5 ticket for a full day's competition, come and see the big rehearsal before the summer!
