On Sunday November 3, 2024, the Fondation France Sclérose en Plaques is organizing the 6th edition of the largest solidarity race to fund research into multiple sclerosis.

The Grand Défi Solidaire is back for another edition with new routes and new ambitions!

There are challenges in life that make us sweat, like getting to an appointment on time in the middle of a transport strike. But there are far more serious struggles, like living with an incurable disease...

Among these battles, multiple sclerosis (MS) stands out: more than 130,000 people in France have to live with this chronic disease that affects the central nervous system. Fortunately, there is still hope thanks to scientific research, which continues to make progress every day.

That's where you come in! The Grand Défi SEP gives you the opportunity to make a difference. If you want to make a difference, this charity race is for you! Join us on November 3, in the splendid Parc de Sceaux, in the Hauts-de-Seine region of France, to run (or walk) in unison for this wonderful cause.

On this day, the aim won't be to beat a world record, but to run for a cause greater than yourself. Whether you're a regular runner or a Sunday walker, there's something for everyone! You'll have a choice of two road races: a 10 km race for the more adventurous, and a 5 km race for amateurs.

For those who prefer to walk, two options are also available: a 5 km walk and a more accessible 2.5 km walk.

Children won't be left out, with a short 1 km race for them. B

ref, it's a family-friendly, inclusive and festive event where there's something for everyone! But don't expect a simple, monotonous course. The setting is breathtaking: the 184-hectare Parc de Sceaux, a listed historical monument. This sumptuous park was designed by André Le Nôtre, the architect of the gardens at Versailles, at the request of Colbert (yes, the one we've all come across in history books). You'll race down flower-lined paths, past majestic fountains and sculptures that tell the story of centuries of history. What better way to run with a view! The atmosphere promises to be electric! The organizers are aiming for an event that is both friendly and committed, a true celebration of sport and solidarity.

Whether you're there to beat your personal best or simply to support the cause, everyone is welcome. It's these moments of sharing and solidarity that make the day special and memorable. Why take part?

Here are 4 good reasons not to miss this challenge: The solidarity cause: Running for yourself is great. Running for those who can't is even better! The funds raised will be donated to research to improve the quality of life of MS sufferers. Parc de Sceaux: with its 184 hectares, it's not just a setting, it's an invitation to immerse yourself in history and nature. Accessible distances: Whether you're a seasoned athlete or a Sunday jogger, the distances are within everyone's reach, with 10km solo or 2-person relay (2x5km), a 5km run or walk, a 2.5km walk and a 1km children's race! An inclusive event: walks, runs, kids, adults - everyone can take part!

There's no excuse not to come. Multiple sclerosis is now the leading cause of non-traumatic disability in young adults in France. It mainly affects women (3 times more than men).

The first edition under the banner of France Sclérose en Plaques, the result of the merger of LFSEP, ARSEP and UNISEP, the Grand Défi brought together more than 800 runners in 2023 to fund medical research!

As a family, in a team or with your friends, the Grand Défi is suitable for everyone and offers a wide range of courses:

  • 10km 2-person relay
  • 10 km run
  • 5 KM walk or run
  • 2.5 km walk
  • 1km children's walk.

Multiple sclerosis affects more than 130,000 people, ¾ of whom are women.

Incurable, it is often invisible, like 80% of disabilities, and its symptoms are varied and unpredictable: cognitive disorders, pain, balance problems, chronic fatigue, etc...
