It’s been 15 years since Sam Beam aka Iron & Wine started singing his adventures and misfortunes with his smooth and enticing voice. He, who became famous in 2002 with The Creek Drank the Cradle is back on stage with a new album Beast Epic, out in late summer 2017. On February 11, 2018, he will perform it live in the private setting of Paris Café de la Danse.
“Where the older songs painted a picture of youth moving wide-eyed into adulthood’s violent pleasures and disappointments, this collection speaks to the beauty and pain of growing up after you’ve already grown up. For me, that experience has been more generous in its gifts and darker in its tragedies”, Beam explains to set the tone of his new album. American songwriter-composer’s sixth album renews with folk influences from his debuts while eyeing pop up.
We won’t talk about the album of maturity, an ultra-clichéd formula who meant nothing from the start, but it’s obvious that these years of experience and trying various musical genres allowed Iron & Wine to assert his delicate yet powerful style in the landscape of American folk music.
