To mark the 40th anniversary of Daniel Roth's appointment to the great organ of Saint-Sulpice, come and enjoy this concert to hear the great organ in a duo and trio featuring a wide variety of instruments. Come one, come all on Sunday April 13, 2025 at 4pm, free admission!
TheAssociation pour le rayonnement des orgues Cavaillé-Coll de Saint-Sulpice was founded by Daniel and Odile Roth following the restoration of the great organ in 1991, and invites you to its next concert, which will bring together several members of the Roth family around Daniel Roth, titular organist emeritus of the great organ: Elsa Roth on marimba, Sibylle Roth on great organ and recorder, Félix Roth on horn & Vincent Roth on viola!
This concert will be an opportunity to hear the great organ in duets and trios never before performed with these very diverse instruments, with a video retransmission of the performers' playing on a large screen to make the most of the performance, and to admire the great organ ever built by Cavaillé-Coll (102 stops on 5 manuals and pedalboard), listed as a Historic Monument both for its case and its instrumental part.
This "most beautiful organ in the world", as Albert Schweitzer called it, will feature classical (Guilain), romantic (Bruch, Schumann, Chabrier, Saint-Saëns) and contemporary (Zivkovic) music, including two premieres: one for horn, marimba & organ by Daniel Roth, the other for marimba & organ by Maël Roth.
For the final piece on traditional Swedish songs, Sibylle Roth will play the recorder and Vincent Roth will introduce us to the nyckelharpa.
Come one, come all for this exceptional and original concert.
