The International Day of Forests, celebrated every year on March 21, returns in 2025 with a rich program accessible to all. TheOffice national des forêts (ONF) is organizing its Forêts en Scène festival from March 15 to 23, 2025, with nearly 200 free events in France and overseas. In Paris, the not-to-be-missed event will be held at theAcadémie du Climat (4th arrondissement) from March 20 to 23, featuring conferences, exhibitions, concerts and interactive workshops. A unique opportunity to better understand the role of forests, true reservoirs of biodiversity, in the face of environmental challenges.
It's an opportunity to explore the many facets of the region's beautiful forests, before the flagship Nuits des Forêts event in June!
In Paris, the Académie du Climat will host a number of events dedicated to forests and ecological awareness. On the program: immersive exhibitions, conference-debates, concerts and educational workshops for young and old. Among the highlights, the Sylvafresque, a playful workshop inspired by the Fresque du Climat, will help visitors better grasp the issues surrounding forests and climate change. Visitors can also take part in treasure hunts, discover the flora and fauna, or attend tree recognition workshops.
The Bois de Vincennes will also be at the heart of the festivities, with nature walks and biodiversity observation missions. Supervised by ONF foresters, visitors will be able to explore the dendro-microhabitats, true refuges for numerous animal and plant species. For nature lovers, a clean forest operation will be organized in the Meudon state forest on March 22.
At the same time, a number of fascinating conferences will address topics such as the role of forests in the ecological transition, forest management in the face of climate change, and the rise of urban forests in a city environment. Experts, researchers and committed players will share their knowledge and experience on these crucial issues.
Finally, Forêts en Scène extends far beyond the capital, with events all over France: treasure hunts at the Château-Musée de Senonches, sensory immersion in the Marsannay-la-Côte forest, discovery of the Rossmoerder Mixed Biological Reserve in Alsace, and participatory planting and guided tours in the Île-de-France region.
Whether you're a nature enthusiast or just curious, International Forest Day 2025 is a great opportunity to rediscover forests, talk to specialists and understand the major environmental challenges of our time. Admission to all activities is free of charge. To find out more and register for workshops, visit onf.fr.
