Following their triumph at the Fringe Festival, the 5 Kenyan acrobats present their acrobatic cabaret inspired by Blues Brothers from October 18 to November 12 at the Théâtre Libre in Paris.

Parisian audiences are eagerly awaiting the first performance of the Black Blues Brothers at the Théâtre Libre. These 5 Kenyan acrobats, who left a lasting impression with their breathtaking performance at the Fringe Festival last August, attracting over 15,000 spectators, have decided to settle down in Paris for a series of performances.

The setting for the show, an elegant nightclub reminiscent of the legendary Cotton Club, serves as a showcase for these extraordinary artists. Thanks to a vintage radio playing rhythm'n'blues, the bartender and waiters metamorphose into balancing acts, dancers and human pyramids. All to the famous soundtrack of John Landis' cult film The Blues Brothers.

Written and directed by Alexander Sunny, the show features the talents of acrobats Bilal Musa Huka, Rashid Amini Kulembwa, Seif Mohamed Mlevi, Mohamed Salim Mwakidudu and Peter Mnyamosi Obunde. Choreography, an essential element of the show, is provided by Electra Preisner and Ahara Bischoff.

Created in 2014, this acrobatic cabaret pays tribute to the film Blues Brothers, performing breathtaking acts while telling a story. These artists have achieved the feat of blending traditional African circus with a blues vibe, recalling the deep African roots of this musical genre. They bring a new freshness to the classic circus repertoire, combining storytelling and technical prowess.

Their story begins in Kenya, where the five acrobats, then children, watched their elders practicing on the beaches. Driven by a passion for acrobatics, they moved to Nairobi to attend the Sarakasi school, where their dream became a reality. Their collaboration with Alexander Sunny, professor of circus history and internationally renowned producer, led to the creation of this unique show.

The success of the Black Blues Brothers is indisputable. Since its creation, the troupe has toured the world to over 500,000 people on 800 dates, with many sold-out shows. At the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, they were crowned"Best Physical Theatre Show", consolidating their reputation on the international stage.

In addition to their performances, these artists have been recognized and praised by such luminaries as Pope Francis and the British Royal Family. Invited to perform at the Royal Variety Performance, they shared the stage with other major stars of the show, receiving the acclaim of King Charles III.

The Black Blues Brothers' visit to Paris promises to be a must-see event for all lovers of live entertainment. Be sure to get your tickets for one of their 20 exceptional performances at the Théâtre Libre, from October 18 to November 12, 2023.
