Monsieur Motobécane, a one-man show written and performed by Bernard Crombey, is staged at Porte Saint Martin in Paris's 10th arrondissement. The show, which runs from April 25 to June 29, 2024, has been critically acclaimed since its premiere.
Monsieur Motobécaneis adapted from Paul Savatier 's book Le Ravisseur . It tells the story of a man with no history, who crosses paths withAmandine, an eight-year-old girl. Monsieur Motobécane finds himself in prison for kidnapping a young girl, whom he had naively taken into his home because her mother had beaten her. The character of Monsieur Motobécane, played by Bernard Crombey, promises the spectator an authenticity and humanity that we hope to discover on stage.
In 1974,Bernard Crombey was awarded the Prix de Comédie Moderne et Classique at the Conservatoire National d'Art Dramatique. This prize even earned him an offer to join the Comédie-Française. In 1992, the actor collaborated with Alain Cavalier on the Cannes Film Festival award-winning Libera me. Bernard Crombey has appeared in some twenty plays, numerous TV series and films.
The show, directed by Catherine Maignan and the author himself, has already toured extensively throughout France, including several Parisian theaters.
