Gone are the huge food courts where you don't know which way to turn. At Bonjour Bichat, you'll feel right at home! It's the ideal spot to try new and sometimes surprising flavors, and to be surprised by one of the dishes concocted before our very eyes by the chefs of the four show-cooking counters. Located in a former carpentry workshop, this human-scale food market has retained its authenticity, with a warm, woody decor reminiscent of the 1960s.
With 130 seats, vintage furniture and wrought-iron animals, Bonjour Bichat is set to become the new gourmet HQ in the 10th arrondissement, between the Canal Saint-Martin and République. As well as a food market, Bonjour Bichat will be festive and accessible, with DJ sets, karaoke and entertainment on the program!
But there's also a much quieter coworking space where you can telework and relax in a beautiful setting. And since you don't want to think or play on an empty stomach, you can choose between four very different addresses, not forgetting a beer or cocktail, as there's a large central bar to quench your thirst.
Fresh, local, quality produce is available from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for lunch and from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the evening. Note that many dishes are available in vegan or vegetarian versions, for all diets! And we had the opportunity to discover all four menus, starting with Crrsp, the food concept that makes everything crunchy, already present at La Communale in Saint-Ouen.
We let ourselves be tempted by the classic burger, the CRRSPY (14.90€), with French-fried chicken, as you'd expect, hyper-crispy, like a nugget. It's a delight, with its blend of textures, between the absolutely decadent melted cheddar and the meat that crunches under the tooth, as well as the slightly spicy secret sauce. A special mention for the paprika-sprinkled fries, tender and spicy to our delight.
At Farmers, the Parisian cantine with its seasonal organic menu, you can enjoy labneh, arancini, roasted pumpkin, or even an egg muffin (15€)! We turned to the egg muffin for a comforting, fluffy dish that's perfect for brunch! With its poached egg, coleslaw and potato pancake, the whole thing is much denser and more generous than usual.
Curious, we couldn't leave the premises without tasting the strange combination offered by Savane et Mousson, fusion cuisine between Africa and Asia. We chose the"Bento Ashanti" (€15.90), made with fresh salmon, plantain banana and attieke, an Ivorian dish made from manioc semolina, accompanied by a peanut-honey sauce to great effect. It's hard to describe, since it's like nothing we've ever tasted before!
But what's certain is that it's daring and awakens the taste buds, taking us on a journey through different cultures, and taking us off the beaten track!
As you can imagine, Bonjour Bichat offers a bevy of choices, each more appetizing than the last. Which is why choosing a dessert proved complicated, but we hadn't yet honored Héritages and its bistronomic plates by Michelin-starred chef Victor Mercier, where we opted for the intriguing strawberry, tarragon and pea vacherin (9€).
Surprising at first glance, this sweet treat's crunchy vegan meringue contains sweet cream and bits of strawberry, for a caramelized edge we've come to love. The peas are a perfect match, as they're naturally sweet, adding a fun, slightly spongy texture that makes this an unusual but unmissable dessert.
We advise you not to come too late, to avoid the fireworks and enjoy the atmosphere easily, by ordering directly at the counters or via your phone. Enjoy your meal!
