The legendary ballet Swan Lake returns to theOpéra Bastille, just before the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. A ballet in four acts with music by Tchaikovsky, it is inspired by a German legend. You'll discover on stage the version created by Rudolf Nureyev in 1984.
In this version of Swan Lake at the Opéra Bastille, the theme of water is of course omnipresent in the ballet, blending with fantasy. The dance recounts the love story of Prince Siegfried and Princess Odette. An evil spell transforms Princess Odette into a swan. In his version, Nureyev adds a scene to the role of the Prince, in a melancholy, dreamy solo, added to the original version, in a three-hour ballet with an intermission.
Created in 1887, Swan Lake was not an immediate success. The ballet, choreographed by Julius Reisinger, received negative reviews, and it was only a few years later that the dance show was a smashing success, thanks to new choreographers Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov. The ballet went on to become a benchmark in classical dance, and is now performed in the legendaryOpéra Bastille in Paris.
A timeless masterpiece, Swan Lake has also had an impact on literature and cinema, most notably with the American hit film Black Swan. Today, Tchaikovsky 's music for the ballet is often used in films and TV series, and is known the world over.
Swan Lake is a must-see at least once in your life! Reserve your tickets now for July 7, 2024 at the Opéra Bastille.
