La Joconde parle enfin is back on stage in Paris! This time, Laurent Ruquier 's play can be seen at the Studio des Champs-Élysées from January 23, 2025. For the occasion, Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa comes to life and tells her story...

The Mona Lisa, a world-famous painting, attracts an immeasurable number of tourists, but do you know its story? Laurent Ruquier's La Joconde parle enfin brings Mona Lisa to life, so she can tell you her side of the story. From the moment Leonardo da Vinci painted her to her exhibition at the Louvre, she'll tell you all about it!

Laurent Ruquier, best known for his career as a radio and TV host, has already written several plays. Since his first creation, La presse est unanime, in 1998, Ruquier has established himself as a playwright whose pieces are both entertaining and critical, and La Joconde nous parle is no exception.

With humor and critical wit, Ruquier uses the Mona Lisa character to tackle questions about celebrity, artistic merit, and the impact of social networks on our perception of art and culture. La Joconde nous parle is a blend of satire and offbeat, making viewers laugh and think at the same time.

The Mona Lisa was painted by Leonardo da Vinci between 1503 and 1506, and depicts Lisa Gherardini, wife of a Florentine merchant named Francesco del Giocondo. Exhibited in the Louvre, the painting passed through many hands before reaching this point. From King François 1er to an Italian employee who allegedly stole it, the story of the Mona Lisa is no ordinary one, which is why Laurent Ruquier finally gives Mona Lisa a voice in his play La Joconde nous parle.
