About a hundred photographs and various documents are brought together in the Galerie de Photographies in the Centre Pompidou to display the links between the graphic arts and photography throughout the 20th century and especially during the two decades that followed the end of WWII (1945-1969).
Photography and the graphic arts move together and are inextricably linked, since each one of them depends on the technological evolutions of the various devices and touch-up methods. Moreover, their boldness characters are at the service of precise compositions and influenced by modern life, by advertisement, communication…
Photographers and graphic artists regularly worked for ads and their testing find a place in those of posters recovering cities’ walls.
The Bauhaus has a key place in the influences claimed by various artists: this school – pioneer in the decompartmentalization of arts – managed to give a true impulse to modern art by facing it to what’s real, useful and readable.
A rich exhibition you shouldn’t miss!
