An exhibition and mediation project... This is what the Fondation Lilian Thuram pour l'éducation contre le racisme and the Musée national Eugène Delacroix are proposing through an exhibition entitled Imaginaires et représentations de l'Orient from January 11 to April 2, 2018.
An exhibition that aims to present works from the museum's collection " in a renewed way ", dedicated to the Orient and its representations. A project that puts the finger on " the close links between artistic representations and our contemporary history, between works of art and the issues of our world ".
Topics covered include "the representation of an imaginary Orient, idealized women and power in painting ", as well as " the use of costume and cross-dressing " and the artist's view of the world. With the help of comments by Lilian Thuram and Françoise Vergès, curators of the exhibition, visitors are encouraged to question the way painting looks at the world, and by extension their own view of painting.
