A master in the art of depicting absolutely gigantic animals, French artist Quentin Garel has built a solid reputation around the globe with exhibitions in Singapore, Venice, New York and Montreal.
This time, the sculptor returns to Paris, from May 26 to June 3, to present his latest exhibition, Monumentalis. As the name suggests, the artist presents monumental works exploring the infinite universe of the animal world. Passionate about zoology, Quentin Garel uses bronze and wood, his materials of choice, to sculpt immense animals which, thanks to their gigantic size and the artist's imagination, sometimes resemble fantastic beasts.
A three-beaked bird skull as tall as a metre, an immense gorilla head or the gaping mouth of a sperm whale await you on rue des Commines, atEspace Commines for the larger works and Galerie LJ for the smaller ones.
In addition to this sculptural bestiary, you'll have the chance to admire the sketches (also immense, one of which is even 11 meters long), works of art in their own right that impress with their depth and volume.
This is a one-week-only exhibition, so don't forget to make a note of the dates now!
