If France maintains particular relationships with northern American, the relationships the country maintains with Canada and especially Quebec are undoubtedly tighter. Quebec even represents one of the largest French-speaking community outside France.
On the occasion of the new edition of the Festival America held in about ten venues across the city of Vincennes, Canada and its literatures will be given pride of place. Loyal to its tradition to mix guests from north American, the festival will also welcome guests from Mexico, Cuba, Haiti and the United-States.
About twenty meetings will allow you to discover Canada through guests’ works who will exchange about societal issues: the painful issue about migrants; the relationships with the First Nations (the Amerindian peoples]; their relationship with their American neighbor and what remains of the American dream; feminism and the place of women in literature (including a debate with Margaret Atwood); great spaces and abundant and containing nature in the country…
Also on the menu, a tribute to James Baldwin, Philip Roth or a special moment dedicated to John Irving.
