It's a major first in Paris. From March 15 to June 16, 2019, La Monnaie de Paris is organizing the first Paris retrospective of German artist and sculptor Thomas Schütte. The retrospective will take place in the courtyards of La Monnaie de Paris, as well as in its interior spaces.
Since the 1980s, Thomas Schütte has emerged as one of the main reinventors of sculpture, but today he is a major and unclassifiable artist . The German artist uses many different mediums of expression, including sculpture, installation, photography, painting and drawing. With a marked attraction to portraiture, still life and landscape.
As a result, the exhibition Trois Actes (Three Acts) is divided into three acts: women, men and architecture. The focus is on analyzing the organization of society and its impact on individuals. As Schütte himself puts it: "My works are intended to introduce a twisted question mark into the world".
So if you're not familiar with Thomas Schütte 's work, this retrospective is one to mark in your diaries for 2019!
