Since 1998, the Musée du Quai Branly – Jacques Chirac has purchased and collected 77,082 works (15,857 items and 61,225 graphic or photographic works). A rich collection that completes and enriches the collections inherited from the MNAAO and the Musée de l’Homme, made over three centuries.
From September 24, 2019 to January 26, 2020, the “20 years of Collection Enrichment at Musée du Quai Branly – Jacques Chirac” exhibition presents the purchases of the museum from 1998 to 2018.
The exhibition will highlight the endeavor to enrich collections and to make the general public understand better the purchasing process, the thoughts of the curators behind the scene and all the process until works arrive in the museum and their display.
For a day, visitors can discover what happens backstage Musée du Quai Branly – Jacques Chirac through an original tour presenting – among others – many multimedia materials.
The occasion of course to remember the most beautiful pieces bought by the museum in 20 years and rediscover the whole diversity of the museum’s collections. In other words, an exhibition starting this Fall you really don’t want to miss!
