The 2020-2021 season of the Cité des Sciences et de l' Industrie brings a big focus onecology and theenvironment. We start with a novelty: a permanent exhibition will be installed from September 18, 2020: Bio-inspired. The Cité des Sciences continues its exploration of the contemporary world and is interested in the living and its survival.
The exhibition is divided into four acts. The first is an amuse-bouche - almost literally. The first part allows to awaken the senses of the visitors, to titillate their curiosity and to alert their critical sense. In the second act, we marvel at the beauty, the richness, the grandeur of nature. We arrive in a greenhouse that includes three ecosystems: a coral reef and its macro-algae bioreactor, a mangrove, a forest floor and its permaculture garden. Each time, a plate illustrated by a naturalist draftswoman presents eight to ten associated species. Each visit is unique: the ecosystems evolve throughout the year.
During the third act, we have the privilege to observe the living, to see the connections and the synchronizations which take place between all the organisms. Life on Earth, the fragile balance that makes it possible, is detailed in different scenes. In the last part, we are inspired by Leonardo da Vinci: " Learn from nature, you will find your future ". The course invites us to reflect on sustainable development and the evolution of our lifestyles.
Children should appreciate all the playful and interactive elements that accompany and enrich the visiting experience. Group games, tactile and pedagogical elements encourage visitors to get involved and transform the environments offered to them.
We also discover a new mediation space: the Biolab. Visitors are encouraged to participate in exchanges and experiments around the environment.
Bio-inspired is accompanied by a series of conferences, from November 17 to December 8, around nature. Researchers will explore the relationship between humans and the environment and will question global warming and the world of tomorrow.
Bio-inspired joins the small family of exhibitions including Robots, E-Lab, Brain, Man and Genes, The Argonaut, Under the Ocean, Solar Impulse 1...
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
