A genuine active citizenship festival! This is what the Palais de Tokyo provides from September 15 to 18, 2022, with “Bodies in Alliance” festival created by Italian artist Marinella Senatore. An art event celebrating the Parisian museum’s 20th anniversary after spending two years wondering about how to be together, and how to be an elective and physical community again.
A reflection that led to this carte blanche given to Marinella Senatore “one of the most famous Italian artists on the international scene” famous for her commitment to works created as an “art choir experiment”. A creative power of the group the artist uses for four days whilst wondering about the 20th anniversary of the Palais de Tokyo and the role of the museum today, two years after the pandemic, in this social body it tries to identify to.
Genuine art occupation of the spaces, this festival invites curious people to discover the work by communities of artists, as well as celebrating being together, commitment, feminism and inclusivity, “built around personal fulfilment and non-hierarchical learning, self-teaching and the creation of forms of citizenship that can be activated through informal education”. In all, 40 art associations are invited for four days to perform, from hijab-wearing female soccer player to urban poetry and vernacular dancing, parkour, voguing and body drums.
Spaces entirely re-designed by the artist thanks to light sculptures, the luminarie, genuine “architectural structures inspired by those from South Italy adorning monuments during some popular celebrations”. Workshops and DJ sets are likely to be in too! And this is the occasion to enjoy a unique and collective art experience. Shall we go, then, friends?
