From October 19, 2022, to January 8, 2023, the Palais de Tokyo invites contemporary art fans to discover their latest exhibition, “Scheherazade, at Night”. A dive into the tales as realistic as phantasmagoric of artists, included in the exhibition, like Scheherazade telling stories every night to survive.

An exclusive but mostly artistic vision of The Arabian Nights… From October 19, 2022, to January 8, 2023, the Palais de Tokyo invites curious people to discover their latest exhibition, “Scheherazade, at Night”. An exhibition bringing together works by six artists, each telling a story, some inspired by the reality, others being phantasmagoric.

Artistic” fictions considered as “critical tools for emancipation in the face of the many systems of oppression and exploitation that still constitute the matrix through which we act and think”. Among the tales proposed, “an activist android discusses sexuality with transgenic soya plants, an island free of any human trace emerges from the ocean off the coast of contaminated territory, were-tigers pounce upon colonial domination, a tender fire eats away at silence, politicians are become endowed with empathy”.

As for artists displayed, here they are: Minia Biabiany, Miguel Gomes, Ho Tzu Nyen, Pedro Neves Marques, Lieko Shiga and Ana Vaz. “Scheherazade, at Night” revolves around an ensemble of “solo exhibitions that respond to one other and constitute so many porous chapters between different geopolitical contexts: from Europe to Brazil, from the Caribbean to Japan and Southeast Asia”. Tales intertwining, like Scheherazade’s stories she tells in The Arabian Nights, to entertain sultan Shahryar and preventing him from killing her at dawn.

A very curious display all contemporary fans or curious people will want to discover!
