On March 2, 1991, the world of arts saw iconic singer Serge Gainsbourg pass away. He is the mastermind behind many songs we still sing: La Javanaise, Comme un Boomerang, Je suis venu te dire que je m’en vais, as many ballads that survived the generations, as the character he was is still highly fascinating.
30 years after his passing, Serge Gainsbourg’s presence still marks the city. As people are waiting for the opening of the museum set within his former home in the 7th arrondissement and the upcoming restaurant-bar Gainsbarre, tributes are regularly paid to this multi-faceted artist.
This is the case of the Gainsb’Art exhibition, running until November 15, 2022, at the Yoxeone Art Gallery. This free event gathers 24 contemporary artists reinterpreting a series of pictures taken in 1985 by famous photographer Roberto Battistini.
This time, the singer is not given pride of place, but the great art lover Serge Gainsbourg was. Dali style, Frenchy style, or unfiltered cigarette in hand, contemporary artists displayed deliver their own version. Plastic artists, sculptors, painters, street artists, designers or even Michelin-starred chefs, talents from all backgrounds are gathered to pay an artistic tribute to enjoy for free!
