Galerie La Lison invites you to discover artist Ono and his exhibition, Organessence, from August 31 to October 14, 2023. For those wishing to familiarize themselves withOno's work, his creations immerse the viewer in a profound reflection on our relationship to humanity and to our own bodies.
Drawing inspiration from 17th-century vanitas, Ono recalls the fleeting nature of human life, with evocative representations such as skulls, clocks, wilted flowers and candles, symbolizing the passing of time and our ephemeral existence. At the same time, she borrows from the aesthetics of 19th-century Romanticism, emphasizing the expression of emotions and individuality. These historical influences combined with her personal approach make the exhibition a moving narrative of our shared histories, while highlighting her own story and our inevitable mortality.
The multi-disciplinary artist has perfect mastery of the materials with which she works, namely wood and porcelain. This combination enables her to express the duality between robustness and fragility. Thus, Organessence presents a series of works in which organs seem to live: between skulls and epidermis, hearts and thoraxes, each piece offers a bare exposure that exposes the inside while magnifying the outside. Through his wounds and inspirations, Ono delivers a unique experience, a journey to the very essence of the human being.
Come and discoverOno 's genius, and let yourself be carried away by the dark but touching beauty of Organessence. Shall we drop in?
